Safety & Care Notes

Materials
Bloom & Build pieces are made from ABS plastic with a smooth, durable finish. The water container is sealed and functional.

Age guidance
Recommended for ages 6 and up. Adult involvement recommended for children aged 6 to 8. Not suitable for children under 3 — contains small interlocking parts.

Care
Keep assembled vase away from prolonged direct sunlight — heat can loosen the interlocking pieces over time. To clean, wipe individual pieces with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Do not submerge the assembled vase.

Storage
Pieces can be stored in their original sorted groups for fastest rebuild. For the challenge mode, mix freely and rebuild from shape recognition.

THE CRAFT BEHIND THE BUILD

For thousands of years, across cultures from ancient China to Persia to Europe, the vase has been one of the most refined objects humans have made. Not because it was useful — though it was — but because it rewarded patience and precision. A vase made well was a mark of a steady hand and a focused mind.

The shape itself is not accidental. The curve that widens at the body and narrows at the neck is one of the most structurally stable forms in design. It distributes weight evenly, holds its centre of gravity low, and balances in the hand. Potters discovered this through trial and error over centuries. When your child builds Bloom & Build, they are discovering the same thing — that form follows function, and that some shapes have survived because they simply work.

There is also something significant about making an object that will hold living things. A built vase with flowers in it is not a finished project — it is the beginning of something that changes each time you refill it.

Every ring your child places is a decision about structure, sequence, and fit. That is not a puzzle. That is design thinking.

How to Play

Place the base on a flat surface. Take your first group of pieces and lock them into a ring around it.

Add one ring at a time, working upward. Each group locks onto the one below. As you move through the middle rows, the rings grow wider — then gradually narrow again toward the neck. You are building a curve, one layer at a time.

When the final ring is in place, press the cover piece onto the top until it sits flush. Slide the water container in from underneath. Add water and flowers.

Works beautifully alone, with a sibling, or as a full family build.

Challenge mode: Mix all the pieces together first. Find each one by shape as you go — like any puzzle, but in three dimensions.
