Portrait Chaos is a wooden character-building game where one roll of the dice assembles a completely unique face — and then the real play begins. Children choose their features, name their character, decide where they live, and introduce them to the room.

No two portraits are ever the same. No two stories are either.

The Art Behind The Game


About 100 years ago, a group of artists decided to break all the rules of painting.

Instead of drawing faces the way they really look, they mixed everything up. Eyes could go anywhere. A nose did not have to be in the middle. Ears could be upside down. They believed a face could show many things at once — different angles, feelings, and ideas — all at the same time. They called this style Cubism.

It was not a mistake. It was a choice. These artists wanted to show that there is more than one way to see a person.

When your child builds their Portrait Chaos face, they are doing exactly the same thing — creating something that has never existed before, out of chance, out of colour, out of imagination.

That is not chaos. That is art.

How to Play

Roll the die. Find your matching feature in the chart. Place it on your face base — in any order you choose.

Build your face one roll at a time. When all six features are placed, pick up a Character Card. Give your character a name, a home, and a story — then introduce them to the room.

Play solo, take turns, or build together. 1–3 players.
